hela Sverige The Machine Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a Controls Technician.
Description of directorate/division
You will join the Integrated Control System Division, which is designing, constructing, commissioning and operating the control systems for the ESS facility. The Integrated Control System monitors and controls most of the operational aspects. We cover a wide range of sensing, control and automation technology from highly customized electronics specific for ESS applications to standardized PLCs controlling building automation.
The Control System Hardware & Integration Group is to perform of the development of control systems from requirements engineering, design, implementation, procurement and delivery for installation, verification and support..
The hardware scope contains of a mixture from entirely in-house hardware development development, through community-style development in standardized open-source code bases to adaption and configuration of off-the shelf commercial systems.
Main Responsibilities
• Set-up, operate, calibrate and maintain test equipment in the ICS laboratory.
• Assist in the planning, installation, commissioning and operation of controls and other related systems and their components.
• Consulting diagrams and technical documentation such as schematics, manuals, standards and codes.
• Low voltage wiring and racks installation.
• Assist in the administration of control computing systems.
• General task for the laboratory up keeping: procurement, laboratory organization and housekeeping.
• Maintain a strong commitment to the implementation/perpetuation of laboratory safe and efficient work flows and practices.
• Maintain and consolidate an inventory database of the ICS laboratory tools and equipment and other computer-based control systems.
• Work on construction sites and follow required safety measures.
Required Qualifications
• Educational
Controls Technician, Instrumentation Technician, Electronics Technician or similar diploma obtained from an accredited educational institution
• Work Experience
Experience in the installation, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, testing and operation of controls and related systems and components e. g. electrical power, instrumentation etc.
Experience in working with control systems, instrumentation and associated test equipment: - Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, JTAG ICE tools, etc. for debugging and analysis.
Must be comfortable with computers and Microsoft Office programs
• Optional Qualifications
Experience in Windows and Linux operating systems.
Experience with some programming and scripting.
Experience in accelerator systems is an advantage.
Experience with PLCs and Ladder-Logic style programming.

Duration & Location
The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.
