The section Engine Controls and Calibration is part of Complete Powertrain Engineering at R&D. We are approximately 100 employees organised in six groups working with function development, engine control and method development for Diesel and Otto engines and also Hybrid applications. The group consists of 18 engineers and we are responsible for application of aftertreatment control on Diesel engines. We develop and calibrate related SW. The group's impact on legislated emissions is large and we take responsibility for making our Diesel engines aligned with emission legislations. We work with a number of different aftertreatment technologies such as Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF), Lean NOx Traps (LNT) and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR). We do a great amount of our work in different engine test cells located in our laboratory but also in vehicles on site and during expeditions to find extreme climates and altitudes.
As a Controls and Calibration Engineer, you will be responsible for the SCR related application on one of our new 4 cylinder VED (Volvo Environmental Diesel) engines. You will work mainly with the new emission legislation (Real Driving Emissions). You will work closely with experienced engineers in a team but have a clear area of responsibility. Your work will be divided between the office, test cell application, emission testing and vehicle testing that also includes travels on expeditions.
Main responsibilities
• You will be responsible for SCR related application on one of our new 4 cylinder VED (Volvo Environmental Diesel) engines
• Suggest functionality updates when needed
• Drive method development within application area, mainly data handling and analysis methods
• Optimies SCR application for best emissions
Required qualifications
• M.Sc. or B.Sc. in engineering or long relevant experience of engine controls and calibration
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
• Driver's licence B
• Experience of engine control and aftertreatment control in particular is meritorious
• Matlab or Python experience is meritorious
