Controls Designer - Power Electronics
At RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers over the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. As CONTROLS DESIGNER - POWER ELECTRONICS within the group Electric Drives you are responsible for Software (SW) Design and Requirement Engineering connected to electrical machines, inverters, power supply and charge systems. In-house SW controls development is a new approach at Electric Drives, thus an essential element of the position is to shape your work role. You will work in close cooperation with other engineering units, Product Planning, Purchasing, Manufacturing and After Market. The role offers an opportunity for personal development through internal courses in electric drive and power electronics led by technical specialists. You will work and prosper in a team that is skilled, innovative and have high passion for the area.
Electric Drives is part of the new and expansive department Electrical Propulsion Systems (EPS). EPS is responsible to design and deliver electrical machines, inverters, battery systems as well as power supply and charging systems for electrified vehicles. EPS cooperate closely with suppliers from all over the world as well as with academia and research organisations.
Job profile:
• Design and implement model based SW components (SW-C)
• Deliver SW requirement specifications
• Deliver design documentation of the SW-Cs such as function descriptions, calibration guidelines and block models
• Modelling in Simulink, unit testing, model reviews and code generation
• Deliver models to supplier and build complete electronic control units (ECU) SW to the ECU System and Vehicle Calibration/Verification Team
• Support the system designers with sub-system structure definitions and requirements.
Your profile:
• University degree within controls and SW engineering or equivalent competence
• Relevant job experience related to development of SW and model based controls system
• Structured, data driven and well developed documentation skills
Cooperative, transparent and good communication skills
• Business oriented
• Good English skills, verbally and in writing
• Competence in Autosar SW platform and vector based tools for structured workflow and tool chain is meritorious
