Controls and Calibration Engineer

The group Aftertreatment Control Diesel within the section Engine Control and Calibration is part of Complete Powertrain Engineering. The group is responsible for application of aftertreatment control on Diesel engines. We develop and calibrate related Soft Ware. The group's impact on legislated emissions is large and we take a large responsibility for making our Diesel engines aligned with emission legislations. We work with a number of different aftertreatment technologies such as Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF), Lean NOx Traps (LNT) and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR). We do a large amount of our work in different engine test cells located in our laboratory but also in vehicles on site and during expeditions to find extreme climates and altitudes. We use advanced programs for modeling and data processing for best end result.

As a Control and Calibration Engineer you will be responsible for the LNT related application on one of our new 4 cylinder VED (Volvo Environmental Diesel) engines. You will work closely with experienced engineers in a team but have a clear area of responsibility. Your work will be divided between the office, test cell application, emission testing, and vehicle testing. To be able to test the vehicle in different environments this position requires travel, usually abroad, approximately four times per year.

Main responsibilities

• Optimise the application data
• Develop the Software function
• Vehicle testing and engine calibration
• After treatment control

Required qualifications

• M.Sc. or B.Sc. in engineering or long relevant experience of engine controls and calibration
• Driver License B
• MATLAB/SIMULINK and INCA experience is meritorious
• Experience in Engine Controls and Calibration is meritorious
• Experience of modelling and statistical design of experiments is meritorious
• Experience of Aftertreatment systems, specifically Diesel will be an asset

• Strong technical and analytical skills as well as being able to execute tests "hands-on"
• Willingness to travel
• You plan, conduct, summarise and report your work in a structured and thorough manner
