Are you a skilled control system engineer, either with several years' experience, or recently started out and hungry to develop your career? If so, ABB's FACTS unit in Västerås, part of the group's Power Grids division, currently has two openings offering high visibility in a global organization with challenging projects and great opportunities to develop and influence. These positions offer extensive opportunities to deepen and broaden your knowledge of the FACTS business, and the chance to grow as a leader.

The FACTS technology enables power system owners to increase capacity within existing power systems. As a result, greater amounts of power reach customers with minimal environmental impact and at lower investment costs. The FACTS unit in Västerås pioneered this technology, and remains the market leader in developing and marketing this groundbreaking technology to customers worldwide.

Tasks

As Control Lead Engineer, you will lead and inspire a project team of control engineers to deliver high quality and cost effective engineering solutions for our customers. The team works with everything from design and implementation to verification and commissioning of control systems to meet customer requirements in delivering FACTS. You will take on overall responsibility for the team's ability to meet scheduling requirements and agreed budgets. To achieve this, you will need to have extensive contact with other engineering groups, project managers, local ABB offices and customers.

Requirements

We would welcome applications from experienced professionals, as well as driven younger applicants who are keen to take their careers to the next level. To succeed in this position, you need to be a confident leader who facilitates teamwork and communicates clearly at all levels. In addition to this, you need to be organized, responsive and solution-driven, with a strong focus on delivering results.

You have at least a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering with a specialisation in electrical systems, automatic control, software engineering or equivalent. Technical competence is required, perhaps in control system engineering or related area. You have several years' experience from similar engineering positions working with deliveries of electrical power plants, converter stations, process control systems, or substation automation. An outgoing personality is a must, as these roles entail extensive customer contact and close co-operation with colleagues and suppliers. ABB is a truly global company and proficiency in English is required.
