• Developer and owner of control algorithms of WEC to optimize performance and survivability in close cooperation with system engineers and module owners
• Ensure that these are correctly implemented in the WEC software through close cooperation with software engineers
• Integrate test results into development of optimal controller
• Perform regression testing of the software using an advanced time-domain model
• Develop and maintain optimal control tools and related documentation
• Responsible for optimization tools and methodology within the System and Analysis team
Skills & Requirements
You may have a B.Sc. or a M.Sc. degree in engineering (mechanical, energy, offshore), physics, math (numerical background) or related disciplines. You have relevant experience in time domain numerical modelling, good programming skills (Matlab and Simulink), data analysis, statistics and optimization. You are familiar with numerical analysis and automation of data analysis. You have a strong analytical mind, broad technical knowledge and genuine interest in controlling complex machines and ocean energy. Your personality, experience and interest in the field is the most important. You have a strong work ethic and you are a team player. You are proficient in English, both spoken and written.
Other skills that would be relevant:
• Understanding of the physics at play: hydrodynamic, electrical machines, pneumatic systems, gearboxes
• Experience in developing optimal controllers (MPC or others) for complex machinery
• Experience with setting up model-in-the-loop test rigs
• Experience with extreme value analysis using statistical methods
• Experience from model validation with measured data from experimental data from test-rig tests and hydrodynamic data from tank testing
• Good communication skills
