At GREEN14, we combine experiments, chemistry, physics and AI to understand and optimize complex high-temperature processes.
Across industry, process engineers run processes every day while simulation teams build increasingly sophisticated models. But the two worlds do not always connect.
We think there is a better way.
WHAT WE ARE BUILDING
GREEN14 started five years ago with a mission to develop emission-free production of critical raw materials using hydrogen plasma.
Today, we operate a full-scale plasma reactor in Stockholm. Alongside it, we have built capabilities in multiphysics simulation, AI and surrogate modelling.
Our ambition is to connect experiments, physics, chemistry and AI to build fast surrogate models that help engineers understand and optimize industrial processes.
Ultimately, we want to answer a valuable question:
What should I change to get the product I want?
YOUR ROLE
You will sit between process engineering, computational science and industry.
Internally, you will help us understand what happens inside our reactor, particularly where plasma interacts with materials.
Plasma-material interactions can involve extreme heating rates, reactive species, heat and mass transfer, chemical reactions, melting, evaporation, reduction and phase transformations.
Which phenomena control the outcome? Which reactions are thermodynamically possible and kinetically relevant? What happens as particles heat, melt, react and cool? What needs to be represented in a model and what can be simplified?
You will work with process engineers running experiments and simulation engineers translating physics and chemistry into computational models.
Sometimes the answer will be better physics. Sometimes better chemistry. Sometimes better data. And sometimes the model will simply be wrong.
Knowing the difference is part of the job.
BEYOND OUR REACTOR
We also want you to understand challenges facing engineers across plasma, metallurgy and other high-temperature industries.
Where are companies spending months running physical trials? Where are scale-up problems difficult to predict? Where are simulations too slow to support engineering decisions?
Most importantly, where could our ability to combine multiphysics, experimental data and AI into fast surrogate models make a meaningful difference?
You will meet process engineers, researchers and industrial partners, understand their processes and help us identify which problems are worth solving.
WHO YOU ARE
You have a PhD or equivalent experience in computational chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, physical chemistry, computational materials science or a related field.
You understand areas such as high-temperature thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, phase transformations, surface reactions, plasma chemistry or heat and mass transfer.
Experience with multiphysics, CFD, COMSOL, thermodynamic or kinetic modelling, CALPHAD, plasma modelling, Python or scientific computing is valuable.
We do not expect you to be an expert in everything.
More important is how you think.
You understand that a beautiful model is not necessarily a useful model. You care about assumptions, validation and whether predictions survive contact with experimental data.
You are also genuinely interested in industrial processes.
When you meet a process engineer, your mind starts working:
Could we model this? Could we validate it? Could we build a surrogate around it? Would solving it actually matter?
That is the mindset we are looking for.
WHY GREEN14
Many computational scientists model experiments performed somewhere else.
Here, the reactor is downstairs.
We can simulate something, run an experiment, measure what happened and use the result to improve the model.
Our ambition is broader than our own reactor. We believe the combination of multiphysics, chemistry, experimental data and AI can change how complex industrial processes are developed, scaled and optimized.
HOW WE WORK
You will join a team of serious engineers and scientists who care deeply about getting things right.
We are international, curious and direct. We challenge each other's thinking and change our minds when the data tells us to.
There is very little hierarchy. Good ideas matter more than titles.
We are ambitious, but low on ego. We work hard, flexibly, and value having a life outside work.
THE PRACTICAL STUFF
Compensation consists of salary and pension together with qualified employee stock options.
We are based at Sweden's leading technical university, close to central Stockholm, with our simulation team close to the reactor and experiments.
