Component responsible - Coated Substrate

At RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers over the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. As COMPONENT RESPONSIBLE within the group Exhaust Aftertreatment Systems you are responsible for component requirements on coated substrate to catalyst systems for both gasoline and diesel engines. You will also responsible for communication towards the suppliers and coordinating the development work. Exhaust Aftertreatment is a development area with high technology content that is undergoing a rapid development driven by emission legislation and fuel consumption requirements. We are looking for you who want to become one of Volvo Car Corporation's strong assets with competences within catalytic converter chemistry.

The professions in our group are system responsible, projects managers, analysis engineers and technical specialist. Our core assignment is to develop aftertreatment systems including specifications of coated substrates. We are also responsible for developing concepts in early advanced engineering phases. Our goal is to meet new environmental legal demands, balanced with other engine attributes such as fuel consumption, performance and noise/vibrations. We are in a very expansive period with new and exciting challenges. Volvo Car Corporation's expansion plans involve several new engines.

Job profile:

• Specification and requirement setting of coated substrates
• Communicating with supplier and planning of coated substrate development
• Communicating with other team members regarding specifications and test results
• Analysis of functional and durability tests
• Specification of requirements / limitations for Engine calibration teams
• Documentation of internal / external requirement specifications
• Develop test methods together with the team to verify the function and durability of the coated substrate
• Benchmark activities of catalytic converters

Your profile:

• M.Sc. degree or higher within chemistry, combustion physics or equivalent
• Experience from the automotive industry and/or industrial engine development with focus on development of environmental friendly technology is meritorious
• Strong in coordinating development work and people
• Organised and structured
• Strong communication skills
• Good English skills (spoken and written)
• Experience from calibration and controls is meritorious
• Good knowledge of engine technology and exhaust aftertreatment system development is meritorious
