About the role
As a compliance officer you will be a key player in the development and maintenance of the organisation's compliance policies and procedures to ensure they are in line with the current regulatory landscape. You will handle internal and external inquiries related to various compliance related topics such as trade sanctions, anti-money laundering, KYC processes and anti-corruption.
An essential part of your work is to collaborate with other departments to create a culture of compliance. You will design and deliver training to managers and employees on not only the regulations, but also the impact on the organisation if these aren't complied with.
Other responsibilities include:
Perform risk assessments to understand risk level, significance and scope
Keep up to date with, and understand, relevant laws and regulations
Monitor compliance with laws, regulations and internal policies
Manage voluntary best practice relating to professional standards
Ensure that your findings are recorded and followed up with management so that issues can be rectified
Investigate irregularities and non-compliance issues
Report back to business functions on current risk and compliance performance
Highlight or escalate areas of concern
Contribute to robust and effective compliance controls within the organisation
Review marketing materials, presentations and websites to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Assist in the gathering of internal information in response to regulatory requests

Requirements
In this role, interpersonal skills are highly valued. We value personal qualities like openness, the ability to connect with people, that you are self going, and since we like to have a lot of fun while working, we hope that you do too! We are looking for a team player that will bring positivity and wants to contribute to the team's success.
You need to have:
At least 5 years of relevant work experience in compliance, ideally an understanding of how to set up an international compliance role and define a roadmap of relevant priorities
Ideally a legal degree or a business degree
Ideally, work experience in a publicly listed company
Critical problem-solving ability. You'll often have to make decisions on the information available, which is not always in black and white
An ability to analyse and interpret information quickly
Ideally, a background in the travel industry or at least an interest in this area.
Project management skills
Very strong communication skills in English
