Communications and Public Affairs Officer in the Political and Economic Relations and Public Affairs (PERPA) Section, Embassy of Canada in Stockholm
The Embassy of Canada in Stockholm is seeking a qualified individual to fill, on an indeterminate basis, the position of Communications and Public Affairs Officer.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Under the general direction of the Political Counsellor, the incumbent recommends objectives and plans and implements projects and events as a member of the Political and Economic Relations and Public Affairs team. Duties include advising on media relations practice and key contacts in Sweden and researching and drafting speeches and briefing material for public affairs events undertaken by the Counsellor and the Ambassador. Duties also include dissemination of information about Canadian interests and events through personal outreach, managing content on the Embassy website, and promotion of Canadian studies.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Note: Failure to meet any of the essential requirements will eliminate candidates from further consideration in the competition.
• A University degree from a recognized institution.
• Absolute fluency in English and Swedish, both written and spoken.
• A minimum of 3 years of work experience in a similar position in an office environment, either in a government or private-sector capacity.
• Excellent research and analytical skills in an area of expertise related to the position.
• Proven event planning and organizational experience.
• Proficiency in the use of standard office suite applications (e.g. word- processing, internet, e-mail, spreadsheet, database) and web-based communications.
RATED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge/Skills:
• Knowledge of Swedish media, political, and cultural issues and infrastructure
• Analytical skills
• Organizational and planning skills
• Written communications skills in English and Swedish

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
• Working knowledge of French
• Public and/or media relations work experience in an international setting
• Information management experience
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
• Ability to obtain the required security clearance
• Valid residency and work permit in Sweden
