Climate action has the highest priority. We recognise that we are part of the problem of climate change - and need to be part of the solution. We have one of the most ambitious electrification strategies in our industry, with the aim to be a fully electric car company by 2030. However, electrification is not enough. We have a science-based plan to reduce emissions across our value chain towards our goal of being a climate neutral business by 2040 - in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement.

In your role, you will drive the development and implementation of compelling evidence-based stories and messages that create engagement around our sustainability journey and industry leadership, across all global channels.

You will work within our Corporate Functions communication team where you will be part of co-creating an editorial calendar implemented across all communication channels. You will drive thought-leadership positions to strengthen employee engagement and build the Volvo Car brand to external audiences through media, influencers and other third parties.
You will also build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and support them with high level communication guidance.
You will play an important role in driving media coverage on your topic, working alongside the PR team. You will stay insightful of global communication trends as well as current and emerging sustainability issues to create and deliver disruptive communication strategies that truly, support our ambition to be recognised as a leading purpose-driven brand.
Key tasks:
• Identify newsworthy communication opportunities, develop engaging and creative sustainability communication strategies
• Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders as the wider Communications team, the Global Sustainability team, Marketing and Brand, all to maximize the impact of our stories
• Manage relationships with external partners

Who you are
We are looking for a passionate and creative communications professional with a proven track record in developing and delivering engaging and motivating communication strategies. You will have extensive experience in PR or journalism and a demonstratable ability to utilise different channels to deliver the desired business outcome. You combine your natural interest in creating innovative communication strategies with an ability to always find the right channel for every story. Last, but not least you have a dedicated interest in sustainability (and ideally experience working with it) and acknowledge that it is a business imperative - critical to corporate resilience and success.

Key competencies:
• BA / BSc in communication, journalism or equivalent experience
• A strategic, analytical and creative approach to communication planning, with an ability to manage a range of projects, balancing quality and speed
• Exceptional communication skills and fluent English: verbal, written, interpersonal and inter-departmental
• A natural collaborator with a strong ability to build good working relationships with stakeholders and internal colleagues.
• A self-starter who is able to work independently and drive results.
• The ability to bring clarity to complex situations and interpret in-depth business and technology messaging in a consumer-friendly way.
• Understanding of global corporate sustainability issues and challenges, including within the automotive industry
• A natural passion for news, communication and engaging sustainability communication.
