The communication officer will have a central role and function in the two SEI Projects.
The purpose of the role is to ensure effective internal and external communications and deliver a tailor made communication plan for each of the research projects. The role is responsible for sufficient outreach of the projects in line with project brief and the project manager with the overall intention to ensure that the research carried out in the projects are providing actionable insights that lead to relevant and timely societal benefits. The work involves the following key tasks:
Raise awareness of the projects, its research insights and methods among clearly defined and segmented audiences
Production of appropriate communication materials
Set up appropriate and effective internal communication tools and ensure effective implementation during the course of the projects.
Facilitate engagement and dialogue with target audiences with the aim of maximizing the impact of the project
Support outreach of research findings through communications, publications and presentations
Monitor and evaluate the outcomes of communications in the project
Provide and coordinate the communications capacity of the project

We are looking for a person with background from communications or journalism and with at least 5 years of relevant experience from the field. Degree in Communication or journalism is preferred.
Ability to translate scientific information for a broader public audience
Relevant knowledge about and interest in global issues and geopolitics as well as documented experience in innovative scientific communications is preferred.
English native speaker (or the equivalent) is a requirement due to the international outreach of the Institute and the Projects.
Experience in organizing events and how to ensure effective communication and media coverage are requirements for this role as well as strong networking skills. A wide network in media and communications is an advantage.
