Commodity Manufacturing Engineering at Volvo Car Group prepares and implements quality assured, flexible and effective production systems in the final assembly plants. Our task is to ensure a process driven design and product development by coordinating and evolving the activities of Manufacturing Engineering (ME), with focus on production effective product solutions. At ME Electrical Hardware, you are part of 2 groups of total 30 persons working close to all our elements within the chain of developing- construction- manufacturing and containing process.

Within Commodity Manufacturing Engineering, we are now looking for a Commodity Manufacturing Engineer who will lead the cross technical product and production manufacturing work. You will represent Manufacturing during the preparation and implementing phase within the commodity area, with global strategic responsibility. It is also within your role to ensure product and process feedback to Research & Development (R&D) in order to fulfil the manufacturing attributes: quality, man hours, cost efficiency, environment, change over and flexibility.

Main responsibilities

• Owner of assembly method over time by developing, defining and preparing each system
• Responsible for verification of assembly solutions, both virtual and physical
• Continuously strive for commonality within our plants
• Prepare new and changed solutions in the current production system
• Quality secure and optimise the process within your area in our factories
• Upon request support design and industrial engineering, when expertise competence is needed
• Drive and follow-up the manufacturing attributes, as well as costs within Manufacturing
• Create and upgrade production/assembly instruction
• Give input/feedback of ME requirement to R&D
• Give input to the project summary

Required qualifications

• B.Sc. level education or higher technical engineering
• Strong practical experience in production processes
• Good knowledge of production methods and tools
• Geometrical knowledge
• Knowledge within virtual development tools
• Fluent in Swedish and English, spoken and written
• Experience from the FMEA and DFA methods is meritorious
• Skills in Product Development, preferably in automotive industry will be an asset
• Knowledge about 6 Sigma and Lean Production is meritorious as well as experience within virtual development tools as Teamcenter and Catia V5
