Commodity Buyer - Hot End Exhaust Systems
One of our employees within the Hot End Exhaust Systems team has changed position within purchasing, hence we are now looking for a new Commodity Buyer within the team.
Volvo Cars Purchasing is ultimately responsible for the selection of all Volvo Cars' suppliers
and has the responsibility for the procurement of all production and non-production material and
services to Volvo Cars. The supply of materials and services- to the right quality, in the right quantity and on time- is essential to the smooth running of the company and to match our customer's expectations.
Our Purchasing team Powertrain Purchasing 2 is responsible for direct material to Volvo Cars Plants. We purchase material to advanced projects, new projects and running production for all Volvo Car Corporation's (VCC) Engine and Vehicle manufacturing plants. Powertrain 2's main areas are base engine components, engine installation components and exhaust systems.
Job profile:
This position and the commodity cover a wide range of materials, processes and a complicated supplier structure. This is why it is important with strong analysis skills and a developed strategic view.
It will be important to proactively develop and improve the supplier base and to work within the cross functional teams as well as being the driver within the Purchasing commodity team. The job will also require a high ability to solve problems in a structured manner and identify opportunities for improvement.
Your main tasks will consist of the following:
• Purchasing commodity responsibility for Hot End Exhaust including Canning, Substrates and Washcoat and to manage the Purchasing strategies and business plans within this area
• Establish Agreements such as "Sourcing Agreement" and "Commercial and Program Agreement", and having the overall perspective for the commodity
• Supplier contract and price negotiations
• Working with cost reduction on a cross functional basis
• Cooperate globally in cross functional teams to develop and utilize strategies to maximize corporate synergies for VCC
• Strive to attain constant improvements and increase efficiency by i.e. establishing a supplier base in accordance to VCC overall strategies
• Develop commercial opportunities within the supply chain
• Establish action plans on part-specific supplier issues in running business
Your profile:
• Commercial or technical university degree or equivalent
• Technical knowledge/experience/interest is an advantage
• Experience from a Senior Buyer role and /or various kind of negotiations experience from leading projects is an advantage
• Computer skills (MS Office and especially Excel) is a requirement
• Good communication skills
• Ability to independent drive and complete tasks
• Commercial thinking and sense
• Positive mindset
• Strategic understanding and thinking
• Analytical skills
• Experience in negotiating
• Result oriented
• Honest person with integrity
• Good English and Swedish, written and spoken
