Commodity Buyer - EDS

The section Electrical purchasing, which EDS Purchasing is part of, is responsible for all electrical and electronic components and systems in a car. Navigation systems, electrical propulsion systems, active safety, harness are all part of what we do and key components of any modern car. Currently we are approximately 30 employees in the section, organised in four groups. The group EDS Purchasing today includes 6 highly motivated persons, 4 in Sweden and 2 in China. We are responsible for all harnesses for all Volvo cars, a vital component in all modern cars. From a commercial perspective, EDS is one of the heaviest commodities in Volvo Car Group and received therefore high attention from top management.

As Commodity Buyer - EDS you will develop and implement long term strategies in cooperation with R&D and other parts of the company. In this position you will therefore build and maintain a wide personal network both within purchasing as well as in the R&D organisation. You have degrees of freedom to form your deliveries and to develop your own skills, both commercially as well as in the area of leadership. As a part of our team, you get access to long term development opportunities in a dynamic and continuously growing field, where you have a strong direct influence on the purchasing strategies.

Main responsibilities

• Secure World Class commercial levels for Volvo Car Group and its customers within the business area of Small Harness, Special Cables and Boxes
• Lead the teams work in Purchasing, together with Development/Product Planning/Marketing, to perform sourcing actions, secure development and production launch, optimise the business over time
• Be responsible and take lead for daily operational issues both internal and external together with the Product buyer
• Continue to drive the team forward in a positive way

Required qualifications

• Good negotiation skills
• Likes challenges and is very focused on reaching the target/finish line
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
• Experience from negotiations in global organisations with focus on commercial targets is an asset
• Commercial and/or technical university degree or equivalent
• Studies with focus on Entrepreneurship, Business Development, Business Analytics with commercial focus is meritorious
