The Sweden Commercial Controller is a key role within the GEHC (GE Healthcare) Controllership team, reporting to the regional Commercial Controller. The Commercial Controller provides technical controllership guidance to both the finance and operations teams. The role has full responsibility for all revenue recognition and all commercial controllership issues including but not limited to approval of orders and terms and conditions.
Essential Responsibilities:
The role is a key contact for all GEHC Sweden commercial operations, GE Capital WCS and HFS, the HCIT Controllership CoE, GEHC EMEA commercial controllership, Sweden reporting & close controller and GOF commercial R2R teams. The role requires management of offshore resources.
Reviewing orders, including complex orders to establish and advise commercial team on the accounting implications
Partnering with the commercial team to review, structure and word contracts to minimize commercial risk while optimizing business
Reviewing non-standard terms and conditions in line with Commercial Contracting rules 5.0 and 6.0, advice on the accounting consequences of such terms and ensure their correct application
Ensuring accurate accounting for all commercial contracting activities including but not limited to concessions, penalties, agent commissions, deferred charges, IIT, deferred revenue, and ECA (Non inventory accruals, civil works, and other deferred costs related to sales)
Educating the business and operational teams on key accounting policies
Researching and advising the business, operational and finance team on complex technical accounting issues on ad-hoc basis
Partnering with commercial team to manage complex customer disputes to successful conclusion
Partnering with the GOF Commercial R2R Team to ensure continuous improvement of the centralized process
Reviewing commercial related balance sheet accounts and entries prepared by the GOF Commercial R2R team, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of their task performance
Regular reporting on various commercial matters to the operations team and central controllership team, including but not limited to deferred revenue, deferred charges, non-inventory and deal specifics
Supporting in the review of all required CFOA forecasts and funding forecasts and transitioning the forecast preparation
Reviewing high risk accounts including accounts receivable, factoring and deferred revenue for unusual and aged items and correcting as appropriate
Closely partner with the Sweden Reporting & Close controller and Sweden Distribution Controller
Internal and external audit contact for accounts receivable, factoring and commercial related balance sheet balances for Sweden
Continually enhancing controls and driving simplifying procedures across the entity
Qualifications:
Accounting Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or MBA, with proven experience
In depth knowledge of Revenue Recognition under US GAAP
Sound accounting knowledge of accounts receivable, sales order accounting and factoring debits and credits
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desired Characteristics:
Strong systems skills (preferably Oracle and SAP) understands the functionality of the way systems operate at a ERP level and also strong Excel
Demonstrates proficiency in U.S. GAAP, local GAAP and authoritative accounting literature (i.e. FASB pronouncements)
