What you will do
The Crank & Power Cylinder Unit (PCU) group is a part of Powertrain Engineering department in Volvo Group Trucks Technology = GTT. The group is global design responsible and system responsible for Crank & PCU for heavy duty engine range. The group consists of nine persons from four different countries. English is the language we use in the daily interactions.
We are proud product owners and accountable for the lifecycle management of our products, from advanced engineering, through product development into the maintenance phase. For this role it includes component responsibility for some of the supplier developed components. On a daily base we cooperate with the purchasing department, projects representantative, test engineers and suppliers as well as our colleagues at the sites over the globe. The components are developed in collaboration with our suppliers which requires extra attention to commutative and collaboration skills. Our products are used in more than 190 markets and considered to be part of the core business.
To complement our team would like you to be part of the responsibility to development of our components. We are a supportive group where collaboration and work sharing is key. The future of the combustion engine is full of exciting technical challenges with the purpose to fulfil the zero emission targets by y2040. You will manage development and releases of newly developed component, provide input to the roadmaps, take part of as well as driving the development work from idea to implementation including maintenance of our components. You are also inspired by the development work of the products adapted to hybrid engines and the new fuels to be used in our combustion engines. The opportunity to impact the demands and requirements of the cooling systems starts a creative process within person you and like a detective, problem solving is embedded in your nature.

Who are you?

You have an education in BSc. Mechanical Engineering or similar education or equivalent experience. Focused in the area of e.g. Combustion engine fundamentals, Engine dynamics, Product development internal and/or in cooperation with suppliers, Materials technology, Tribology. Knowledgeable in the area of Production, Fluid Dynamics, Thermal Management, Virtual development. Experience from and familiar with the basics of Manufacturing techniques, tolerance stack-up and structure analysis.
It is preferred if you have some years of experience in the area of internal engine components development. It is valuable if you have proven experience from having lead cross functional component development, as well as documented ability to plan, execute and solve potential issues in order to deliver high quality results.
You have a curious mind-set and gets energy from developing new technical solutions. As part of a global team the work collaboration, communication and information sharing is very important. You understand what it takes to be part of a team in order to develop a good high quality solution. In previous positions you have developed analytic skills and learnt the importance of developing new technical products in a structured and organized way. You has a good level of understanding for component features as well as knowledge and experience from engine design and controls. You are structured, communicative, curious and take initiatives to improve the daily work. By default you have the positive glasses on while maintaining a realistic approach. You feel that it is important to learn from mistakes and likes to take responsibility for the deliveries from our team. You also value an open and honest environment where trust enables high performing teams.

Development work within Powertrain engineering
Supplier developed components in combustion engines
Components like crankshafts, pistons, flywheels, gears, dampers, air compressor
