Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future. Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we're expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we're on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars' journey into the future.
Do you want to be part of our passionate family?
At Volvo Cars, we believe that being curious and truly committed to understanding people is the key to future success. Without passionate people there is no positive progress... and likely no Volvo Cars. A dynamic global organisation committed to driving change awaits - a place where ideas can be freely expressed and creativity can flourish.
Who we are?
At the department Energy Management within Propulsion and Energy, we make life easier for electric vehicle owners. In our group, Energy Cloud Services, we optimize distributed energy resources and smart devices with advanced algorithms, forecasting, and innovative energy management strategies. Our teams also develop APIs for our partners and connect hardware such as wallboxes and home batteries to the cloud. Our mission is to increase energy efficiency at multiple levels-ranging from individual homes to local grids, and up to the national grid-ultimately benefiting customers, the energy system, and the planet.
What you'll do
As a cloud developer you will contribute to the future of our energy ecosystem. You'll join one of five teams. All teams are self-organized with a high degree of freedom when it comes to both technology and ways of working. Four teams focus on backend development, optimizing charging sessions, building backends for wallboxes and home batteries, aggregating vehicle fleets, and developing third-party APIs. The fifth team handles full-stack development, working on our support dashboard and demo app. Since the teams are independent and self-organized, you need to take ownership of your work and be ready to contribute to all aspects of development: writing code, gathering requirements, testing, managing infrastructure, and more.
The teams work with .NET as a primary language and AWS as the cloud provider.
What you'll bring
You have over 4 years experience as a cloud developer with experience in:
• .NET
• C#
• AWS
• Kubernetes
• MongoDB
• Terraform
• Grafana
• Kafka
Aswell as other related technologies. You have developed and maintained cloud systems. Familiarity with cloud security in distributed systems is important, along with experience in event-driven architecture and using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate and manage cloud infrastructure. You preferable have skills in AWS management, and DevOps practices.
We also value experience in energy systems, and an understanding of vehicle technology is a bonus. You are passionate about sustainability, have a strong analytical mindset, and work in an organized, structured way. Driven by curiosity, you continuously seek improvement, challenge the status quo, and explore new technologies. You communicate well, thrive in collaborative, fast-paced environments, and embrace working in diverse teams.
A driver's license (level B) is helpful but not required.
