Job Description
We're hiring a Cloud Security Engineer to fortify our cloud platforms and ensure a secure environment for customers in the ever-changing and complex landscape. You will be a part of the Google Cloud Platform Engineering team - guardians dedicated to delivering a superior platform that empowers application teams to develop exceptional and secure applications. You'll play a key role in designing and implementing security features that will protect many resources and applications.
As a Cloud Security Engineer, you'll develop protective measures and automate security within our cloud infrastructure, shielding applications from cyber threats. Your critical role involves establishing security policies for application teams, be part of design and implementing security features, come up with creative solutions to enhance the security posture. Together with team you will also develop automation tools contributing to the continuous improvement of security capabilities.
This role is an exceptional chance to enable hundreds of product and services teams to create secure solutions, which is essential for protecting our customers, business processes, employees, and the wider ecosystem. With your interest and our capabilities we expect you to grow in to a role that will make you an expert infrastructure and platform security.
Responsibilities
Define, develop and implement security guardrails to our cloud platforms based on written security controls.
Use e.g., Google Cloud's Security Command Center (SCC) to find patterns and gaps and create scripts, services, applications, policies that will improve the platform security posture.
Work with Security Operations Center and incident response team to block attack vectors.
Work with Google in proof of concepts and private previews to evaluate the latest security features.
Follow security trends and implement security features to improve the overall platform capabilities.
Support the tech delivery in product and services teams with security knowledge relevant to a specific technology area or domain (e.g. cloud, network security, key & encryption, secure software development, data protection, data privacy, disaster recovery and business continuity planning).
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in GCP, Azure or AWS
Experience configuring platform capabilities in GCP, Azure or AWS, e.g. policies
Experience in scripting, can read and understand basic code and what is does.
Experience working with infrastructure as code like e.g. terraform.
Passion for security and are curious about technology, how things work and are put together.
Self-starter with initiative to identify and address issues, coupled with a commitment to learning and sharing new skills.
Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment, with strong communication skills and an analytic problem-solving mindset.
Demonstrates ownership, attention to detail, and adaptability to change; not afraid to seek help when needed.
Excellent team player, capable of expressing technical concepts to both technical and non-technical peers, contributing positively to the team environment.
