Climate Software Designer

Climate System Department is responsible for climate development within Volvo Car Group such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning (a/c) systems and climate control. Climate System Department is part of the Body & Trim unit within Volvo Car Group's Research & Development division. We are currently 85 employees divided into 5 different groups. This position is within the A/C & Auxiliary heater systems group. The A/C & Auxiliary heater systems group has the responsibility for developing A/C and Auxiliary heater systems, delivering heating and cooling for the vehicle compartment. We are today facing new challenges to achieve good interior climate with improved energy efficiency and we are strongly affected and involved in all types of new powertrains. The group is divided into two teams, A/C System team and Auxiliary Heater System team. The role as Software Designer will work and support both teams as well as the HVAC and Air Distribution Group.

As Software Designer you are responsible for develop software requirements for the climate system components to meet technical, quality, time and cost requirements. Plan and follow-up software development from both internal and external suppliers and verified together with component testers and/or suppliers. You will be involved in early concept phases, through projects and over the components lifetime. The role includes cross-functional work with suppliers as well as other departments within Volvo Cars. The work demands a personality that drives tasks effectively and finds ways to implement the best possible solution.

Main responsibilities

* Support System Responsible (SA) with requirement settings and specifications prior to supplier nomination
* Support Group Design Leader (GDL) and Component Responsible (KA) to understand requirements, questions from suppliers, testing and result for electrical- and software design
* Order and follow up acceptance testing of Climate system software nodes
* Host and drive internal and supplier software specific meetings
* Drive system software design questions towards electrical department
* Develop and share experience and competence within the technical area
* Establish and transfer knowledge to Design Guidelines, System and Component specifications

Required qualifications

* B.Sc. in Electrical, Mechatronics or Computer engineering
* Software development and quality assurance of embedded systems
* Hardware development and quality assurance of embedded systems
* Software requirement setting of electrical components
* Driving license type B
* Fluent in English (written and spoken)

Meritorious qualifications

* M.Sc. Electrical, Mechatronics or Computer engineering
* Knowledge in Volvo Car's processes and development systems
* Knowledge of automotive climate systems and/ or climate system components such as a/c compressor, HVAC, shut-off valves, etc
* Knowledge of LIN and/ or CAN protocols
* Knowledge in Team Center and/ or ELEKTRA
* Experience from Simulink, CANoe or similar diagnostic tools
* Knowledge of AUTOSAR and/or FLEXRay

Personal qualities

* Positive mind-set and good communicator
* Excellent corporation skills
* Solution driven, structured and well planned
