Embedded Platform Developer for Autonomous Transport Solutions

Scania's autonomous transport solutions depend on a reliable in-vehicle platform for sensing and processing. We are now strengthening our pre-development team for the vehicle platform. The team is responsible for continuous development and adaptation of the platform to all the various autonomous transport solutions use cases. The work is focused on building a complete solution with state of the art embedded control units, sensors and communication hardware.

Many of the sensors employed in autonomous vehicles produce high volumes of data that need to be efficiently distributed and processed. The lessons learned in the ongoing pre-development projects will be vital to the design of future Scania product offerings in the field.

Your task
Together with the rest of the team you will develop hardware and software solutions that support the rapidly evolving requirements of sensors and algorithms in the field of autonomous driving. The work includes both hardware and software evaluation and selection, as well as code development and in-vehicle testing in order to create an effective complete system.

You will work in multiple projects with researchers and developers creating advanced new algorithms for previously unsolved problems. This routinely requires exploring the bleeding edge of embedded hardware and software. Understanding of customer needs, communication, and balancing of various requirements are important parts of the job. Standard tools include C/C++, embedded real-time Linux systems, and modern software development tools.

Each team member is expected to work in close cooperation with the other colleagues and to participate in the whole development cycle, from initial design and prototype implementation to testing in simulation and on real heavy vehicles.

Your profile
A successful candidate holds a Master degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field and 3+ years of relevant work experience. The candidate should have knowledge and experience of embedded Linux and embedded software development using C/C++.

A good understanding of distributed embedded real-time computer systems is required. Candidates must be able to work both independently and in a collaborative environment. Good command of written and spoken English is required, good command of Swedish and a truck driving license are advantages.

About us
Our team is part of Scania Research and Development, and we focus on long term development of sustainable transport systems. We have the ambitious task of drastically reducing the environmental footprint, increase the efficiency of the entire transport system and to develop solutions for eliminating traffic accidents.
Our facilities are situated in Södertälje, a medium size city located only 20 minutes away from the heart of Stockholm, Sweden.
