Circio has established a unique circular RNA (circRNA) vector expression technology for next generation RNA, DNA and viral therapeutics. The proprietary circVec platform is based on a modular genetic cassette design for efficient biogenesis of multifunctional circRNA inside cells. The circVec platform has applications in multiple therapeutic settings, including genetic medicine, cell therapy and chronic disease. It has demonstrated 70-fold increased RNA half-life and up to 15-fold enhanced protein expression vs. conventional mRNA vector systems in vivo, and has the potential to become a new gold-standard protein expression technology. The circRNA R&D activities are being conducted by the wholly owned subsidiary Circio AB in Stockholm, Sweden.
Are you an experienced molecular biologist or immunologist with a drive to transform current gene therapies?
Circio is currently seeking a research scientist to join the expanding R&D Department of Circio in Huddinge, Stockholm; to manage, spearhead and conduct experimental work towards the optimization and characterization of Circio's proprietary vector platform. In this position, you will play an instrumental part in the development of the company's research programs as well as design and conduct an extended array of molecular biology and immunology-based assays. In addition, you will work in a fast paced, exciting, and challenging environment in-between academia and industry and participate in brainstorming, troubleshooting and optimization of state-of-the technologies.
Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will involve:
• Design and execute relevant research projects within molecular biology or immunology (e.g characterize and quantify RNA and protein yield following transient transfection in different cells lines, and/or evaluate and mitigate immune-responses followed by injection/transfection of DNA by different delivery techniques)
• Perform data analysis, visualization and present the data to team and stakeholders
• Intellectual input for research and strategic decisions within the R&D team
Qualifications
You are a trained scientist fluent in oral and written English, and you are a team-player passionate about the development of therapeutics and capable of working independently. Furthermore, the ideal candidate should also have the following expertise:
• 2+ years of relevant academic or industrial experience post-PhD.
• Experience with managing, driving, executing, and documenting molecular biology and/or immunology focused projects.
• Experience with dissemination of scientific data and grant writing.
• In-depth understanding of RNA biology, AAV biology or immunology
In addition, specific technical experience with the following is preferred:
• Molecular and Cellular Biology: Expertise in laboratory techniques such as flow cytometry, fluorescence microcopy, PCR, RT-qPCR, and Western blotting
• Cell Culture: Proficiency in culturing of primary immune cells, tumor cell lines, and other relevant cell types, as well as viral and non-viral gene delivery methods.
• Preclinical modeling: Preclinical modeling: Experience in design and utilization of animal models for gene and/or cell therapy
