What do we do?

A key component within Volvo Electromobility electrified powertrain is the Energy Storage System. At our section, we are accountable for the lifecycle management of the complete Energy Storage System, from market analysis via advanced engineering throughout product development into the maintenance phase. We work on cutting-edge battery systems electromobility projects and believe that great innovations come through cooperation and are always there to give a helping hand when needed.

You will

Transform the way our solutions influence the world. You have a strategic mindset and the ability to lead Volvo Group's next generation Energy Storage Systems projects into a world-class leading solution as a benchmark. As a Chief Project Manager, you will be managing large cross functional Energy Storage System development projects and leading a team of Project Managers for engineering, purchasing, production and aftermarket. Together with your team, you will be responsible for the overall delivery. You will do that according to Volvo Group's development processes, with a strong external and internal cross-functional focus, securing all relevant stakeholders are well contributing to the success of the assigned projects.

Based on your long-lasting experience in leading battery system development projects you easily take the role to further develop and guide the Project Managers and the different teams to excel in project execution. The daily work has interface with several stakeholders, other Project Managers, engineers, and management teams, enabling proactive and constructive co-operation. Your ownership mentality will help others grow. You will lead the projects across the Volvo Group with different stakeholders from Volvo Trucks, Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Penta and Volvo Busses. You will report directly to the Director, ESS Product Management.

What are we looking for in this specific role?

We are looking for a Chief Project Manager. In this role, you will be managing large cross functional Energy Storage System development projects and leading a team of Project Managers for engineering, purchasing, production and aftermarket. Together with your team, you will be responsible for the overall delivery. You will do that according to Volvo Group's development processes, with a strong external and internal cross-functional focus, securing all relevant stakeholders are well contributing to the success of the assigned projects.

Additional responsibilities will include among others:
Secure that the project targets and boundaries are aligned and committed amongst stakeholders
Lead the work to ensure progress and deliveries according to set plans
Create, maintain, and align time plans
Manage project cost and product competitiveness
Drive and coordinate issue solving between functions, stakeholders, and experts.
Drive data gathering and analysis as needed
Prepare and present gate reviews to project committees. Secure and manage budgets and release funding to the individual part projects.
Secure project documentation and stakeholder commitment
Identify risks and manage them
Update and manage stakeholders
Identify lessons learned

Qualifications likely required to be successful
Proven experience of delivering large complex industrialization projects by leading external partners and cross-functional teams
Full understanding of the automotive industrialization process, its gates, and major milestones as well as the dependencies of the different stakeholders
Experience in developing Li-Ion battery and/or Battery Energy Storage Systems in the automotive industry
University degree in mechanical/electrical/industrial/project engineering or equivalent experience
Fluent in English, written and spoken
