Master of Fine Arts or similar (industrial design, transportation design, product design)
or Bachelor with seniority in experience.
Experience - Work
Reports to Volvo Trucks Design Director.
8-12 years transport industry experience, in the field of automotive or transportation Concept and production design.
Proven team leadership experience.
Proven track record in production design.
Ability to make the impossible possible.
Proven background industrializing design into business and customer valued products.
Has excellent knowledge of working with part updates, ratio & cost.
Supports Director of VT Design in building highly ambitious production design team that gives business value.
Delivers unique solutions that offer cost effective solutions and customer value with incredible design uniqueness.
Collaborates cross functional and relishes the challenge of making impossible possible.
Able to translate business requirements, modern technology, and user needs into meaningful design and customer solutions.
Knows how to navigate ambiguous and diverse requirements, producing a clear, concise design roadmap for each engagement.
Craft knowledge, meaning:
Craftmanship and quality of design are essential in this role.
Experience of prototyping concepts and ability to 'sell' ideas into the business.
Has the unique ability to collaborate across teams to create simple, clear and customer value solutions that are brilliant yet beautiful offers to the programs.
Knowledgeable about future design and technology trends, meaning: Know where to source information, and are regularly updating and cross sharing within the design team.
Able to present and share inspirational ideas through the various teams in a clear simplistic organized and structured way.
Proven aesthetic skills (portfolio required) - has the premium level of design skills to be respected as an authority in Advanced and production design with an aesthetic profile matching the Volvo brand.
Have the capability of delivering industry leading design solutions connected to logic frameworks, technology constraints, multi-platform support systems with strategic objectives.
Ambitious to create world class solutions.
Collaborative and inclusive identifying and delivering user needs, personas, storyboards, scenarios, flowcharts, and design prototypes, into a production viable solutions.
Acting as a role model with Integrity and Trust: Ability to bridge silos and communicate an engaging and consistent strategy across all interfaces.
Comfortable in driving change, show resilience in implementing a strategy and be able to balance production goals within technical and contextual restrictions.
Positive mindset, action oriented: Creative problem-solver with the ability to inspire others.
