The group ?Combustion System Analysis & Simulation? at Volvo Group Trucks Technology Powertrain Engineering consists of simulation engineers within 4 different areas; CFD of engine systems, EATS analysis, gas exchange analysis and virtual test rig simulations. We are today a group of 10 persons of various ages, nationalities, and gender, and our main focus is simulation of the future components and systems that are under our project development. Our simulation team has a wide focus, from simulations of components to systems and feature level evaluations. The simulation results are used as design development support and also virtual verification. They are delivered in presentations and reports, and are used for taking decisions in development projects.
The job involves extensive contacts with other groups within the department as well as external contacts with people from other areas and other Volvo companies. You will work in close cooperation with the other members of the simulation team, and there are possibilities for networking with people on all levels of the company.
Working as a CFD Simulation Engineer at Powertrain Engineering:
Plan and perform complete CFD simulations in STAR-CCM+
Analyze simulation results, recommend improvements, present the results to the internal customers and write engineering reports
Be a part of and contribute to the Powertrain Engineering simulation network, take ownership and develop certain models and concepts within the Volvo global simulation community
Contribute to project feasibility studies, concept evaluations, engine component choices and recommendations
Ensure the correlation between simulated results and corresponding measured results
Develop new methods and continuously update current methods
Qualifications:
Strong ability to work in cross functional teams as well as being able to work independently
Good communication and coordination skills
Structured way of working
Commited, driven and engaged
Experience in CFD analysis
Master of Science in Engineering or equivalent
Fluent in English, written and spoken
