hela Sverige Adecco Life Science is now looking for a Cell biologist within insulin sensitivity to support drug discovery projects in diabetes at AstraZeneca Gothenburg. You will join the CVMD iMed Bioscience department and be part of the Insulin sensitivity in vitro group.
This is a full time consulting assignment during 1 year planned to start August 1st 2017. Apply no later than May 23rd.

The area
You will be working within the CVMD iMed Bioscience department, which is a multi-discipline department working with metabolic, cardiovascular and kidney diseases. The drug hunting activities also spans into many different modalities including small molecules, peptide and nucleotides. This provides scientists with an unique opportunity for innovation in drug discovery.
Functional area
You will be part of the Insulin sensitivity in vitro group in Bioscience and focusing on questions within drug discovery project in diabetes area.
Role description
The Cell Biologist Insulin Sensitivity supports drug discovery projects with scientific input in the in vitro assay strategy and delivers key in vitro and ex vivo decision making data. The successful candidate has a broad expertise in cell biology & biochemistry and is experienced in establishing/performing cell based assays. You will independently design and conduct in vitro experiments and analyze & evaluates the data. In addition, present the data at team and project team meetings.
Major responsibilities:
* Independently apply existing in vitro and ex vivo assays for projects during different phase of projects.
* Experiences of cell culture, Elisa and qPCR is a must, and knowledge of fat cells biology and related metabolic assays has additional advantage.
* Independently design and execute in vitro or ex vivo experiments
* Statistical analysis and interpretation of generated data
* Presentation of data at the team and project team level
* Document the work according to AstraZeneca standards, and prepare the preclinical pharmacology part of regulatory documents as appropriate.
* Work collaboratively with in vivo, DMPK, etc scientists as required to ensure flow-scheme connectivity and translatability between in vivo and in vitro models
* Work collaboratively within Bioscience and iMed to deliver on project key questions.
* Contribute proactively to a vibrant and innovative working environment where improvements and new ideas are adopted and freely shared.
Other Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with corporate code of conduct guidance and other safety standards.
Key Deliverables
* To be lab based, delivering key in vitro and ex vivo data to project teams within the agreed timelines and to the right quality
Minimum Requirements:
* Bachelor degree with some years of working experience or a recent PhD in a related field or degree in relevant discipline or other equivalent experience
* Experience from the pharmaceutical industry
* Deep understanding of cell and molecular biology
* Statistical analysis of data
* Scientific knowledge in the Diabetes field
* Scientific knowledge of fat cells in general.
* Strong oral and written communication skills
