Role and Responsibilities

The role is a part of The Babyshop Group's Buying department. The Employee will head up the 'Baby' and the "Home" Categories and Team and report to the Group Buying Director responsible for the Group Buying Department. The Employee will be a part of the Buying Leadership Team. The 'Baby' Category consists in large portions of hardware, generally one size products with an important functional and safety element e.g. car seat, strollers and carriers. The "Home"Category isf focused on products groups like furniture, bedding, storage and home accessories. The two categories amounts for an important part of the Group revenues.

Core Responsibilities:

• Analyse data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends. Set category and brand strategies and define company brand mix to meet business, profiling and customer demands
• Responsible for managing the relationships with suppliers and negotiate vendor allowances and terms of purchase
• Individually or together with the Buyers attend fairs and buying appointments with key vendors and drive product strategy
• Responsible for developing and ensuring brand and category budget and profitability
• Work closely with the Marketing team to determine competitive pricing, seasonal products are launched and exited on-time and that the marketing focus is aligned with strategic purchases
• Analyse vendor profitability, sales, margin and turnover targets as well as develop and execute aged inventory exit strategies, pricing strategies. Develop exit strategies for slow moving brands or products
• Determine and place appropriate orders to ensure product availability that meets consumer demands as well as manage inventory receipt flows and collaborate with planning analyst to expand product categories and determine seasonal forecasts to ensure appropriate inventory levels.
• Manage staffing, develop team member skills and foster an environment of job satisfaction and positive morale
• The Employee will devise and execute tasks in a productive and efficient manner based on current objective and guidelines (the Employer reserves the right to amend the tasks from time to time)

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years as Category Manager or similar role or 5+ years' experience of buying with responsibility for product mix, budget and profitability for a segment
• Proficient in using Excel and have strong data and trend analysis ability
• Fluent in English as well as Swedish (both verbally and in written form)
• The ability to communicate confidently with colleagues across all areas of the business and act as a mentor and coach for other staff members
• Experience from buying or working with baby related products or consumer electronics in a retail or e-commerce context is a strong plus
• BSc/BA in business administration, marketing or related field
