Calibration Engineer, Oil System

The section Engine Controls & Calibration are responsible for function development, calibration and validation of engine control in Volvo Car Groups petrol and diesel engines. The section has 95 persons working both in the engine rigs, in vehicles and some with simulations. Many of the section's staff also participates in expeditions to get the right atmospheric conditions for their job.

As a Calibration Engineer, Oil System within the Group Vehicle Application you are responsible for the functional development and calibration of oil control. Oil control consists of oil pressure governing and to govern actuators that are driven by oil pressure, like VVT (Variable Valve Timing). Many of the systems is today in concept phase and much of the work will be to cooperate with engine engineering to get the best performance out of the systems and in the end reduce CO2 emissions without effecting drivability. You will work closely with experienced engineers in a team but have a clear area of responsibility. Your work will be divided between the office, test cell application, and vehicle testing. To be able to test the vehicle in different environments this position requires travel, usually abroad, approximately four times per year. Other responsibility the group has is thermal management, low pressure fuel and engine protection functions on both diesel and petrol engines. In diesel engines the group is also responsible for idle speed control.

Main responsibilities

• Calibration of oil system functions
• Propose functional changes within mentioned areas
• Cooperate in cross functional system teams within oil system
• Ensure verification of those functions within engine projects
• Report status of work to projects

Required qualifications

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering or engineer with experience from the area mentioned above
• Good knowledge of English (spoken and written)
• Driver's license (B) is a requirement due to actual field expeditions in Sweden and abroad
• Meritorious is experience from software such as: INCA, Matlab, Simulink
• Meritorious is also experience from software development
• Meritorious is knowledge in engine oil systems

• Knowledge of engines or interest in learning about engines
• Positive attitude
• Ability to take initiative
