Calibration Engineer, Engine Combustion Control

The section Engine Control and Calibration is part of Powertrain Engineering at R&D. Currently we are approximately 120 employees organised in seven groups working with function development, engine control and method development for ICE and hybrid applications. Within the group Diesel Combustion Control our mission is to optimise the Engine Management System (EMS) to bring out the best attributes of the engine. We are responsible for calibration and development of functionality for normal mode operation, engine out emissions and torque models. Your work has great impact on the customer experience regarding fuel consumption, combustion sound, response and performance.

As Calibration Engineer you will work with advanced engineering in concept phase and industrialization for production start. Your work will be divided between the office, test cell application, and vehicle testing. To be able to test the vehicles in different environments this position requires travel, usually abroad a couple of times every year.

Main responsibilities

* DoE, data collection and analysis of measurement data
* Make ECU calibration based on the collected data
* CAE analysis and validation
* Manage the given assignment through a cross functional team
* Optimisation of combustion settings to reach emissions and engine performance targets
* Process and method development, i.e. develop your own calibration methods
* Documenting the work
* Plan and execute engine tests in engine dyno, vehicle dyno, vehicle tests and participate during vehicle expeditions to verify and perform climate corrections on Your calibration

Required qualifications

* M.Sc. in Mechanical, Physics or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
* Experience from calibration of Engine Management Systems
* Fluent in English (written and spoken)
* Driver's licence (B-level, passenger car)
* Experience or interest in writing your own scripts for data analysis, calibration and optimisation in Matlab and/or Python
* Experience or interest in Model Based Calibration

Meritorious

* Courses in combustion engines
* Good knowledge of Diesel combustion engines
* Optimisation of combustion engines
* Experience of INCA and ASCMO sw

Personal qualities

* Problem solver
* Self-managed, while being a good team player
* Curious with a very good analytical ability
* Good interpersonal and communication skills
* You plan, conduct, summarise and report your work in a structured and thorough manner
