Position description:
Analysis Engineer Performance & Drivability
The section Powertrain NVH and Performance & Drivability is part of the Driving
Dynamics and Noise & Vibration Centre within Product & Quality.
The centre has the responsibility to ensure that all dynamic attributes like Steering, Handling, Ride, Braking, Driver Assistance, Performance, Drivability, Noise, Vibration & Harshness (NVH) and Sound Quality are supported in the vehicle programs, in terms of both customer and legal requirements. Within the Powertrain NVH and Performance & Drivability section we have the responsibility for base engine and driveline NVH, powertrain NVH integration into vehicle and performance & drivability from a complete vehicle perspective in car programs and advanced engineering projects. PT NVH and P&D works with state-of-the-art equipment, engine and chassis dynamometers and CAE software. We have extensive communication with other internal design areas, suppliers and our development centre in Shanghai.
Within the group Powertrain NVH CAE and Performance & Drivability, we have the
responsibility for both Powertrain NVH and Flow acoustic CAE from a complete vehicle
perspective in car programs and Advanced Engineering. We are also responsible for the
attribute vehicle longitudinal performance and drivability. The group consists of 17 people, of which 5 are attribute leaders responsible for performance and drivability. The team works integrated in all project phases, contributing with analysis, targets, strategies and guidelines to improve the NVH and P&D attributes in our cars. As an attribute organization, we are responsible for current and future vehicle models. We perform competitor benchmark studies and work to break down customer expectations into technical requirements. We participate in the Annual work and give our input to the Advanced Engineering process to ensure attribute fulfillment, by ordering objective verification and support with subjective judgment when needed.
Main responsibilities:
• Be responsible for implementation of VSIM simulations of vehicle longitudinal performance within the team
• Provide virtual results for target fulfilment verification in projects
• Conduct validation of VSIM results using vehicle measurements
• Take part of Volvo engine, electrical and hybrid drivelines development
• Translate subjective judgments to objective requirements together with attribute leader
• Representation of the attribute within diverse meeting/fora
Required qualifications:
• * M.Sc. in Mechanical/Vehicle Engineering or Engineering Physics or similar
• Work experience within powertrain controls
• Good knowledge of powertrains
• Experience of Matlab, Simulink and VSIM
• Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience
• Driver's license (B-type)
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
