Who we are
Volvo Cars Propulsion Power System Department is responsible for the development of combustion engines and electrical motors in Volvo car vehicles.
The group Engine CAE - Solids support the department Propulsion Power System with advanced computer based analysis of Dynamics, NVH and durability. The analyses are carried out on both internal combustion engines (ICE) as well as on electrical motors. We work on all levels from complete system to single components and always strive to deliver state of the art computational analyses. The group consists of 15 people with different areas of expertise.
We are now looking for a CAE Engineer to work with Valve Train and Engine Dynamics analysis.
What you will do
You will perform computer based calculations on the valve train and cam transmission concerning dynamics and kinematics. Furthermore you will take part in analysis of engine dynamics where the valve train is an important part as well as other areas such as the crank system.
Since the valve train controls the breathing of the engine it has a big impact on the engines performance and fuel economy. The mission for this position is to analyze the mechanical behavior of the system designed to meet the requirements of the overall engine. The complete engine dynamics plays a vital role for understanding vibrations, noise and durability.
You will use advanced computer tools like AVL/EXCITE TimingDrive / PowerUnit and SIMDRIVE.
The work will be carried out both independently and in teams and you will take part in different engine projects as well as in method development. You will present results both oral and in written and be responsible to issue recommendations.
Since the team have a wide area to cover there is also possibilities to support in other nearby areas and work with them in close collaboration, hence expanding and sharing your knowledge widely.
Do you fit the profile
We expect you to have Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with focus on Applied Mechanics or Automotive Engineering and have working experience with advanced computer aided analysis.
It is an advantage if you have worked with calculation based analysis on valve trains, transmissions, crank systems or other similar mechanical systems.
We are looking for someone that is analytical and has a genuine interest in advanced technical calculations and highly developed methods. As the role will implicate a broad span of contacts you should have a strong ability to communicate and to convey results in a structured and understandable way for your stakeholders. Due to the company 's standars, you need to be fluent in English, spoken and written, and have an ability to preset you results and solutions.
