The section Braking Analysis and Verification is part of the Vehicle Dynamics and Active Safety Centre at Volvo Cars. Our section is responsible for analysis, verification and validation of attribute, functions, and systems regarding Braking (Brake Performance and Brake Noise). Our section is also responsible for the requirements regarding braking attributes. Using progressive technology and engineering, we are active and responsible during all stages of the product development process.
In order to strengthen our team in accordance with Volvo Cars strategy of enhancing our work with virtual verification we are now searching for a passionate CAE Engineer. As a CAE engineer within Braking, you are responsible for supporting Attribute Leaders, Programs, Design and Testing with CAE-results. Most of the work will be performed within a CAE-environment with various tools. However, some physical testing will be carried out using a complete vehicle. Your everyday work will be carried out in collaboration with various departments in a fast moving and international environment, hence good communications skills are a must. Main responsibilities
• Develop test methods and virtual test environments
• Test and evaluate brake systems
• Create proposals of brake specifications based on calculations
• Optimise brake systems
• Report to the project organisation
Required qualifications
• M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mechatronics or similar
• Experience and skills within MATLAB, Simulink and finite element software (preferably Abaqus)
• Experience from the automotive industry or general vehicle knowledge and interest, due to studies or previous experience is preferred
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Driver's License (B-level)
• Meritorious: Specific experience of Vehicle Dynamics, Structural Dynamics, Noise Vibration and Harshness (NVH) and/or Computer Fluid Dynamics
