Research and Development
The group, CAE powertrain strategy and concepts, within the department ,Powertrain Strategy and Concept, is responsible for analysing concepts and system solutions for propulsion systems including hybrid systems in Volvo Car Corporation vehicles. The group consists of about 10 persons working with CAE simulations for the properties driveability and performance and powertrain energy consumption.
VSIM is a simulation program for performance, energy consumption and driveability in complete powertrains and vehicles. The responsibility of the VSIM engineers is to build simulation models of new powertrain technology including controls and increase the precision in current VSIM models.

Main responsibilities
• Development of new powertrain models
• Simulation of powertrain attributes with focus on energy consumption, performance, driveability, NVH and emissions
• Support powertrain system design engineers, attribute leaders and advanced engineering projects with powertrain attribute estimations
• To succeed with this it is important to have a good knowledge of the physics of the drivetrain. It is also important to focus on details, documentation and have good traceability of the work that is performed.
Required qualifications
• Master of Science in, Mechanical, Applied Physics, Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent
• Experience from Matlab/Simulink
• Experience and good knowledge in model development and model calibration
• Good knowledge of the energy processes in combustion engines and hybrid powertrains
• Good knowledge of energy consumption for propelling a vehicle
• Knowledge and passion for documentation, traceability and results with high quality
• Fluent in spoken and written English
• Drivers licence
Meritorious qualifications
• Experience of simulation of performance and fuel consumption in VSIM, GT Suite, AVL cruise or equivalent systems
• Experience of algorithm development in control systems
• Experience of development of controls- and/or diagnostic-systems in the Automotive industry
• Experience of following systems Dymola, Modelica, SVN, LATEX and Mode Frontier

• Thorough, methodical and structured
• Have the ability to work independent but also enjoy being a part of the development team
