Within Vehicle Propulsion, the Section Exhaust and Cooling system is located. Cooling system are around 60 people and divided in three groups, Engine mounted-, Chassis mounted- and System Development Cooling system. The three groups are working close together and have the total responsibility for the complete cooling system which consists of heat exchangers, cooling fans, pumps, valves, air separators, hoses, pipes, thermostats etc.
Green Propulsion and Thermal management are increasingly important attribute areas for Volvo Cars towards becoming the most desired luxury brand. Cooling System has a key role in setting those attributes and balancing in between them. The systems are getting more advanced and complex including different temperature levels, cooling down, heating up, transfer/transportation and storage of heat for combustion engines, electrical motors, battery, control modules etc.
As CAE engineer for complete cooling system, you will work in projects in cooperation with the System responsible for inner and outer cooling system, other CAE engineers within Cooling system and other departments.
Main Tasks
* Optimize cooling systems with respect to thermal management and other attributes
* Perform 1-D system analysis
* Perform component CFD simulations
* Operational development and contribute to the development of CAE activities within the group
* Analyse and draw conclusions and present results from completed calculation activities
* Communicate with other groups within Volvo cars to ensure relevant in-data to the analyses
* Participating in discussions with other groups to ensure proper collaboration and enable attribute assessment on a multiple system level
Required qualifications
* M.Sc. grade within mechanical engineering, applied mathematics, or a similar education or equivalent experience
* Deep knowledge in thermodynamics and heat transfer
* Experience from 1D simulations and/or 3D simulations
* Software experience and skills in Gt-suite, Star CCM+, Matlab, Simulink, ANSA meritorious
* Fluent in English, written and spoken
