CAE Engineer - Engine Transmissions

At RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers over the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. As CAE ENGINEER - ENGINE TRANSMISSIONS within the department Engine Development, you will belong to the group Engine CAE that works with analyses on different system levels and advanced technical calculations. You will perform calculations based analysis regarding dynamics and overall function of the engine transmission systems, such as belt and chain drives, valve trains and gears. The analyses are carried out with Multi Body System analysis (MBS) using software such as SIMDRIVE and EXCITE. The position gives the exciting possibility to understand and analyse some of the most critical and advanced mechanical systems of the engine. We are looking for someone who is analytical and has a genuine interest of advanced technical calculations and highly developed methods. The work will be carried out both independently and in teams. As the role will implicate a broad span of contacts you should have a strong ability to communicate and to convey results in a structured and understandable way.

Job profile:

• Perform calculations on belt- and/or chain drive systems on the engine
• Perform calculations on valve train drive
• Perform calculations on valve train components
• Perform calculations on crank system components
• Analyse results and issue recommendations
• Take part in method development within the area
• Actively participate in development projects and teams

Your profile:

• M. Sc in Mechanical Engineering with focus on transmissions and/or Applied Mechanics
• Well developed skills in advanced computer aided analysis
• Good knowledge of analysis with MBS software
• Experience of available MBS methods
• Knowledge of analysis of engine transmissions is an advantage
• Experience of analysis of combustion engine is meritorious
• Fluent in English, spoken and written
• Communicative and self-driven
