As a CAE Engineer within the group, Strength Simulation - Chassis Components, you will play an important role in driving forward the design and robustness of future Scania trucks using Finite Element Methods (FEM).

Together with teams of focused design and test engineers, you will help conceive and develop durable and lightweight chassis components and assemblies.

We are now looking for someone with a composite structural engineering analysis background and deep knowledge of composite materials.

The group is currently comprised of ten CAE engineers who, along with most of their clients, are situated at the Scania Technical Centre in Södertälje.

What we can offer you:

A dynamic workplace with varied and challenging work assignments. We focus on a collaborative environment where everyone participates in driving projects forward. As a new employee you will receive the full backing and support from all team members
Continual improvement and professional development of employees is a priority for us. The further education of employees, via both internal and external courses, is encouraged and supported
Whatever your professional aspirations are, Scania's varied and numerous career development pathways can help you achieve them
State of the art computing resources, including the pre-processor HyperMesh and the FE solver Abaqus

You will be expected to:

Take lead in projects with focus on lightweight solutions, focusing on composites
Specify and develop composite designs and laminate specifications in line with product requirements and work together with suppliers, creating a cost effective and robust composite product design
Regularly and proactively connect with an extensive network with the Research & Development organisation in order to spread an understanding of the significance of durability. We put great emphasis on interpersonal skills, as you will be expected to effectively convey technical issues to colleagues and managers from many functional units
Cooperate with test engineers, plan the development and verification of truck components and systems, utilise loads acquired from truck measurements as inputs for simulations
Correlate simulations of highly dynamic systems to test results and provide support and direction to teams of design engineers based on your simulations
Continually develop CAE methods with the help of new software or test data to improve efficiency and accuracy, both in-house and in collaboration with external suppliers
Analyse results, prepare reports and presentations, and to effectively communicate your findings within various forums

Requirements
You are an engineer with a proven record (minimum 4 years) in a similar role and with solid theoretical knowledge in structural engineering of complex and highly loaded composite structures. You have an interest in vehicles and will thrive in a high paced environment with both individual and collaborative work tasks where communication is key. Solid knowledge of different composite materials and associated manufacturing processes, is particularly meritorious.
