hela Sverige The European Spallation Source is one of the largest science and technology infrastructure projects being built today. The project includes the most powerful linear proton accelerator ever built, a five-tonne, helium-cooled tungsten target wheel, state-of-the-art neutron instruments, a suite of laboratories, and a data management and software development centre. It is a brand-new Big Science organisation and we are building it from the ground up. The ESS will be a user facility, welcoming researchers from around the world to perform experiments using the neutron instruments and associated facilities.
About the role:
The Technical Projects Group of the Neutron Scattering Systems division provides the engineering expertise to support the ESS european partners in the construction of 15 neutron instruments at the ESS. As CAD Engineer you will provide Mechancial Design competence to support one or more european partner institutes to deliver world class neutron instruments to ESS.
Your main responsibilities and tasks will include:
• Design and/or modification of CAD components and assemblies of a neutron instruments with short notice, and in coordination with the instrument lead Engineer.
• Production of manufacturing and installation drawings using IInterfacing with the ESS/Spatial Integration group for fast integration.
• Supporting instrument designs and engineering staff at our partners as well as checking onsite for as-built/as-design discrepencies.
• Reporting progress and issues to the Instrument project managers.
About you:
As the successful candidate you
• have a degree in mechanical engineering, or similar relevant technical expertise, and solid working experience as mechanical designer.
• Ideally, you have dealt with design work in a scientific or technical facility.
• You enjoy interacting with colleagues and contractors from different backgrounds, as well as with In-kind partners, in an international context.
• As a person you take initiative and work proactively, and have the ability to work both independently as well as part of an international team.
• You are used to working in Microsoft Office and CATIA V6, or similar systems.
Fluency in written and spoken English is a requirement, as it is the working language at ESS. Knowledge in Swedish, German and/orFrench is an advantage.
Duration & Location
The position is a fixed-term, full-time position with a duration of 3 years . Your workplace will be situated in Lund, Sweden. The deadline for applications is 15 October 2023.
