The Vehicle Control & Chassis department is responsible for the development of Wheel suspension, Steering, Wheel & Tyres and Brake Hardware systems. We deliver systems that are leading Volvo Cars in direction of "one of the best" within Driving Dynamics, Active safety and Driver Experience.
The section Wheels, tires & equipment is responsible for the development of wheels, tires and equipment such as jack, spare wheel and temporary mobility kit. We are now reinforcing the group responsible for equipment, hence we are in the search for a new colleague in the design engineer role. As CAD-Engineer you are expected to be involved in Wheels, tires & equipment deliveries during all phases from concept to aftermarket.
Your focus will be on development of mobility equipment and designing the package of the equipment in the trunk of the vehicles. The aim is to develop or optimize the phone box, use as less space as possible and with that, make an impact on end customer satisfaction. To make the role even more interesting, we can highlight the fact, that you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the whole project content and be part of the project from an early phases to production phase. You are expected to be involved in design engineering activities and have cross functional responsibility together with purchase and manufacturing department, as well as external suppliers.
You will work in a creative environment with flexible cross-functional teams. In the teams, we are working together, caring and helping each other in order to reach the best solution. You will contribute with part design in system level and have the opportunity to create and proactively propose new engineering solutions, based on your knowledge, experiences and constructive dialog with other engineers within and outside of company. Main responsibilities
We are looking for a CAD Engineer within the section Wheels, tires & equipment, where you will be part of the equipment group. To work in our design team means take an active part in the development of plastic/polymer parts with handiness as an important aspect. Your main responsibilities will be:
* Develop 3D models with suppliers for virtual verification and for development of prototype parts for physical verification
* Review and support the development of supplier mechanical designs
* Optimize packaging of components towards surrounding environment and defining requirements on surrounding systems / components in order to make the design work as intended
* Participate at package meetings for resolution of mechanical conflicts and clearances issues
* Design parts in the mechanical interfaces such as attachment solutions and bridging parts
* Deliver and release 3D/2D models and drawings for manufacturing of production parts
Required qualifications
* B.Sc. in Mechanical engineering or other equivalent education with relevant experiences
* Experience on relevant positions
* Documented experience using Catia V5
* Understanding and previous usage of Team Center
* Good knowledge in plastic/polymer design
* Experience in product development and automotive industry in a merit
* Fluency in English, spoken and written
* Driving license "B"
