A high focus area at Epiroc is development of intelligent machines with more automation and connectivity, such as our newly developed remote controlled station "Bench Remote".
At the same time there is a high focus on energy efficiency and hybridization. This increased complexity of the control and electrical systems of our drill rigs together with high demands on uptime, producibilty and cost sets high demands on one of the cornerstones in our electrical system, cable harness design. This is why we are now looking for a dedicated senior engineer within the field of cabling to strengthen our electrical team.
The main focus will be to design cabling to our drill rigs, primarily cable harnesses, and select suitable components in these designs, such as connectors, splices, braiding, tubing etc. You will be the expert on both how to design the cable harness and also on the components used in the design from an electrical, mechanical and environmental perspective. This means designing and updating cable harness drawings and specifications as well as cable-component drawings and specifications, often in cooperation with our supplier, and supporting other engineers at the electrical department in these areas. A major part of the work will also be to set-up and maintain guidelines and methods within the harness design and test area. You will also work with designing the architecture of the control system together with hydraulic and control system engineers.
You will work in cross functional projects together with other functions such as production, marketing, aftermarket and of course other R&D departments. In the projects you will be the expert on cable harnesses in the rigs electrical system. You will also work with product improvement in terms of producibility and supporting aftermarket in redesign cable harnesses. Developing new technologies for cabling in basic development projects will also be a part of the work. You will be working in close vicinity to the factory which means that there are great opportunities to see the end result of the projects and also to test and evaluate different solutions on actual machines during the projects.
Experience and Knowledge
We believe you have several years of professional experience of designing cabling from an electrical, mechanical and environmental perspective, preferably within automotive or mobile machinery or other highly qualified engineering background within the electrical cable design area. You are used to take ideas from an initial concept to serial production, creating technical documentation and verifying technical solutions. You have expert knowledge in designing cable harnesses and selecting the components to that design with respect to electrical, mechanical and environmental requirements. You are used to be lead designer and guiding others within your area of expertise. You are also used to creating guidelines and specifications within your area. Experience of CAD tools for cable routing, for example CREO cabling, and PLM systems are qualifying. You should have good command of Swedish and English, verbal and written.
Education Requirements
You should have a documented academic background within relevant area or other highly qualified engineering background.
