If you want to develop the company's future of world-class products, using the latest of engineeringmethods and processes, then you are the person Atlas Copco are looking for. Atlas Copco Underground Rock Excavation (URE) has a large program of machines used in tunnelling and underground mining operation, for example Drill Rigs, Bolting Rigs, Scaling Rigs, Loaders and Mine Trucks. The machines are used all around the world, normally in very harsh environments with high demands on safety, reliability and productivity. They are available in various technology levels, from simple to fully automated with diesel and/or electric drive trains.
Job Description
The cab on a machine is one of the most important components in protecting the operator from the extremely harsh environment in tunnelling and underground mining operations. The operator compartment is limited with space constraints and shall be designed to be a safe, ergonomic and efficient work station. The job as a mechanical development engineer in the cab group cover all aspects in the design and development of an operator compartment; structural design, ergonomics, interior and exterior components, plastics-design and climate system. The work involves mechanical design, calculations, component choice, testing and documentation. Most work is in project form and covers base development, new product development, product maintenance and custom orders.
Skills & Knowledge
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or similar knowledge by experience, who is good at considering the human needs and aspects of design. It is desired that you have a few years of practical experience in design work and work with modern CAD systems, Atlas Copco use Pro/Engineer. Experience from work with heavy welded designs, plastics, ergonomics or HVAC system is meritorious. A previous background working with operator compartments for construction equipment machines or on-highway trucks is highly qualifying. You will have contacts with other groups and Swedish/International suppliers within and outside the company, therefore a good command of Swedish and English, both written and verbal is essential.

The successful candidate should be based in Örebro, Sweden. Örebro is Sweden's seventh biggest city, with around 130,000 inhabitants. It is located in the center of Sweden, population-wise - 2 hours to the east coast (including Stockholm); 3 hours to the west coast. There is a good infrastructure and facilities, and virtually no traffic - so the quality of life is high. There is an established and growing international community. There are also schools that offer education in English, including the International Baccalaureate syllabus, plus a university. More information on the city can be found on
