Häringe Slott began in the 11th century with the Viking Sote. Since then, Häringe has been passed on through a various range of owners. King Gustav Vasa had a residence here and Gusta Horn built the stone Palace as it stands today in 1657.
During the 20th century, Thorsten Kreuger purchased Häringe Palace and modernized it with refrigerators, an outdoor pool, a bowling alley and even a tunnel that connects one of the wings with the Palace. When Thorsten Kreuger was charged with fraud, he sold the Palace to his good friend Axel Wenner-Gren, the founder of Electrolux. Axel gave the Palace to his wife Margueritte with the words "Häringe is yours, baby!". The couple filled the palace with antique furniture, silver, weapons and tapestries. The park was filled with statues from Peru and Ireland as well as limestone statues of nordic gods. After Axel?s death, the Palace was emptied of all valuable items so when Olle Hartwig bought the Palace it was more or less empty. By studying pictures from the Wenner-Gren albums, Hartwig managed to repurchase most of the furniture, paintings and tapestries.
Many years later, Securitas owner Sven Philip Sörensen bought the Palace and made it into a training center for his employees. Since then, Häringe Palace has been used as a conference hotel.
In 1999, the Ljungberg family bought Häringe Palace and it now is part of the exclusive chain c/o Hotels, which also includes Grythyttan Gästgivare, Tammsvik Conference, Krägga Herrgård, as well as The Maidstone in the Hamptons.
About c/o Hotels
We, at c/o Hotels, are deeply concerned about the external as well as internal environment. We continue to promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage our employees to do the same. We believe in creating a family environment where people can feel free to express their opinions and strive to make a difference. We look locally and worldwide for opportunities to better our surroundings and strive to give back to those in need. We also nurture and grow our future leaders as well as promote and support our current ones. We provide only constructive criticism when needed and look to find opportunities in all obstacles. We challenge convention at every turn. We are about empowerment, believing in our team, and being service minded to not only our guests but to each other. We do not see things in terms of black or white, but in turquoise. We do not take ourselves too seriously and enjoy laughing as well as a good cry. We are the change we want to see in the world.
