Volvo Powertrain is the Strategic Centre for powertrain issues in the Volvo Group. The scope covers complete powertrain systems, components such as engines, transmissions and driven axles, including development, manufacturing, sourcing, partnership, installation service and support in close co-operation with the customers. Volvo Powertrain has operations in Sweden, France, North- and South America and Asia
Due to changes in our teams, and short term peaking workload Volvo Powertrain Purchasing is looking for buyers to temporarily strengthen our purchasing organization. The contracts will be 12-24 months with good possibilities for the right candidate to stay long term with Volvo.
The new colleagues we are looking for has a strong commercial drive, a true interest to conduct business and work with advanced technology in an international and multicultural environment. We are always interested to hear from experienced purchasing professionals, but due to the current structure of the team, we might consider also candidates with less purchasing experience but other advantages that will bring an added value to our global team (i.e. experience from related activities such as sales, product development or manufacturing, and/or outstanding academic merits).
Volvo PowertrainPurchasing works with a global supplier base consisting of close partners. We are responsible for buying parts, components and complete units to our engine and transmission production plants, as well as to Volvo Group's Truck and Bus assembly plants. The buyer reports to a Purchasing Manager.
Qualifications:
University degree in Engineering and/or Business/Economics
Probably a few years purchasing experience, preferably from the automotive industry
A result oriented, pro-active and positive attitude with good prioritization skills
Fluent in English, both written and spoken
An analytic nature and good skills in computer systems including MS Office
The position requires that you are a team player and a self-starter, with the ability to take initiative and actively participate in or coach different projects
The suitable candidate finds leadership interesting and has the interest and ability to grow long term with Volvo
The position includes travelling
Responsibilities:
Purchase of parts and components in accordance with defined strategies
Plan and perform sourcing, negotiations, requisition handling and ordering
Implementing strategies and cost savings activities
Drive commercial and technical rationalizations
Support projects, in-house and at internal customers
Utilize the benefit of co-operation with other Volvo Group companies
Manage day-to-day operations within quality, projects, cost reductions, delivery and supplier relations
