Ensuring the supply of materials and services - at the right cost, quality and technology - is essential for the success of Volvo Car Group. The purchasing function within Volvo Car Group is divided between Production Purchasing and Indirect Purchasing. The Indirect Purchasing department is divided into three sections; Facilities, Machinery & Tooling, and Services and Logistics & Operational development. We work with our stakeholders to create and deliver supreme value together with our suppliers.
As a Buyer within the team MRO (Maintenance Repair and Operations) you will purchase supplies, spare parts and maintenance services to our factories and R&D pilot plant in Sweden and Belgium. You will be responsible for buying commodities, chemicals, oil, gas and other metal and non-metal raw material to our plant productions in Europe. We are looking for a candidate who can act both strategic as well as operational.
Main responsibilities
• Drive total cost (TCO) approach and savings with suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Build, develop and maintain competitive supplier strategies/base and commodity business plans
• Perform market analysis, benchmarking studies and sourcing
• Lead commercial and contractual negotiation with suppliers within MRO
• Contribute in big bang projects (procurement process development, cost reduction projects)
• Daily contact with stakeholders around the needs for goods and material
• Place orders above a certain limit and resolve daily issues
Required qualifications
• Technical or Financial University education (or equivalent)
• Commercial competence
• Legal knowledge
• Project experience
• Excellent communication skills in English (written and oral)
• Knowledge within chemicals and oils, manufacturing processes and maintenance will be an asset
