Job Description
How do we best source energy for fossil-free electricity sales?
Providing our customers with fossil-free electricity at competitive prices means we need to understand their needs and the market and be able to handle the attached risks. The Commodities Intelligence department is currently looking for an experienced analyst to join us on our journey.
The Commodities department
Vattenfall's Business Unit Sales Nordic provides business and household customers on all Nordic electricity markets with tailor-made products to meet their demand for electricity, guarantees of origin and other environmental products. The Commodities department is responsible for the overarching sourcing strategy and to ensure a proper risk management for the Business Unit. The team actively supports our Nordic B2B and B2C units with relevant insights to develop sustainable business and actively manage our portfolio risk . Our mission is to enable business, helping them with the right products and prices, supporting with risk assessments and reporting, and developing the necessary BI landscape to create the highest level of insight into our portfolio.

About the position
As business intelligence analyst in Commodities you will work at the interface between the different sales units, Group Risk Management, Trading and IT.

Your responsibilities include (but are not limited to)...
Contribute to Consumer Sales' and Business Sales' gross margin optimisation and increased profitability
Support with development of the pricing framework
Regular and ad hoc quantitative risk analysis of our portfolio and provide measures for risk mitigation
Develop and optimize hedging strategies for our portfolio and enable execution for our financial sourcing
Reporting according to applicable laws and regulation (e.g. REMIT)
Monitor and react to regulatory changes to ensure compliance of our business activities
Develop our Business Infrastructure platform and actively push towards automation and digitalisation

Qualifications
University degree in engineering, mathematics, finance or comparable qualification
At least 5 years of professional experience in energy markets or in another relevant field, e.g. in finance, trading, quantitative analysis, risk management
Mathematical and statistical knowledge
Solid knowledge of the Nordic electricity wholesale and financial markets
Understanding of financial derivatives, risk management and reporting requirements
You know how to get started in different IT systems, such as Power BI, SQL, Databricks, Dynamics, Python; ideally you are familiar with the concept of agile working
Ability to communicate and explain complex matters
You communicate fluent in English as well as in Finnish or Swedish, both verbally and in writing

As a person you are a curious and analytical mind. You are self-motivated and like to take initiative, with a good portion of pragmatism. As you work towards many different stakeholders, communicating and building relationships is something that comes naturally for you. You understand the importance of receiver-oriented communication.
