Skellefteå is undergoing a unique transformation riven by the green transition in Skellefteå and the north of Sweden. The municipalitys goal is a population of 90,000 by 2030, which means that we will need more coraugous entreprenuers starting new businesses, develop existing companies and welcome new corporate investments. We are working to further strengthen industries in the forefront, as well as increase our industrial diversity and thereby provide the prerequisites for a more attractive labor market.
The Business Development Office goal is to give prerequisits to increase the number of job oppertunities on the private market. We actively build and develop networks and maintain relationships with international potential developers as well as local companies and innovators. The work is based on close investors with stakeholders within the innovation system, academia, regional and national government agencies, and business network and associations.

Publiceringsdatum2022-09-16ArbetsuppgifterAs a business developer responsible for corporate establishments, you will work both strategically and operatively with investment promotion, promoting business opportunities, and providing support and service throughout the establishment process. Based on insights into local trade and industry, the regions strengths, and proactive business intelligence, we take the initiative in launching development projects that strengthen trade and industry in Skellefteå and seek out endorsement, commitment, and financing from the concerned stakeholders. As a business developer, you are expected to assume the role of project manager or the municipalitys representative in steering groups.
Building trusting relationships with small businesses establishing their first operations as well as international business leaders and the ability to coordinate and quality assure responses to detailed and technical questions will be part of your day-to day work. The key for successful investments is good preparations in which all experts who participate feel involved in the establishment process, which you are expected to lead.
The establishment process is the primary focus, but together we strive to achieve the overarching objective of creating the necessary conditions for thriving trade and industry. Accordingly, as a business developer, you will be involved in assignments across the entire business department.
KvalifikationerWe are looking for someone with a university education within, for example, business economics, business management, or marketing or with documented skills and knowledge acquired by other means. You also have experience of sales and marketing work in the private sector and experience of business development and/or project management. You are fluent in both Swedish and English, spoken and written, and are able to hold inspiring presentations for various groups.
The role requires that you are sociable, creative, and humble, with an enthusiastic and positive approach that engages others. You work in a structured manner with a long-term approach and are able to develop trusting relationships. When interacting with other people, you are attentive and adapt your body language and communication to the target audience, happily socializing with small business owners and government ministers alike.
It is important that you have knowledge about and an understanding of regional development work and how public structures provide the conditions for trade and industry to thrive. You also have the ability to empathize with the day-to-day challenges faced by companies so that you can share, in a confidence-inspiring manner, your knowledge and contacts to help companies develop.
You are able to drive development issues forward and get people involved. You also find it easy to gain an overview, strive for a helicopter view in your thinking and work, and find win-win solutions. You are happy to think and act outside established structures and frameworks and can identify improvement potential. You act purposefully when moving from idea to execution in complex issues and are not afraid to jump in at the deep end when apparently impossible issues arise.
