Business Control Team Lead - Line Maintenance

Do you want to be a key player in ensuring a cost-efficient operation and improved financial performance? As one of the business control team leaders, working with our operational divisions, you will be responsible for developing and driving the maintenance unit's financial agenda. It also includes day-to-day leadership and work prioritization as team leader of controllers (2-3 persons). You work closely with line management as a business partner in striving to improve business and ensuring fulfillment of SAS strategy. You support the unit as an integral part in the unit's strategy execution, mainly focusing on short- and long-term financial planning and follow up as well as supporting in cost saving and efficiency projects.
This necessitates a close cooperation with the unit's key stakeholders (Head of Production, Planning, and local tech base managers at ARN, CPH and OSL etc.) as well as being part of a team of dedicated Financial and Business Controllers. Your responsibility and involvement will also include storytelling in numbers, business cases, ensuring delivery of cost saving initiative's and improving financial transparency within the unit. You should reinforce financial awareness in the business unit, assuring control, transparency, accuracy, predictability, and robustness with regards to financial performance.
Main Tasks:
Act as a business partner to key business stakeholders on all matters linked to financial performance and consequences. Be supportive as well as challenging.
Day-to-day leadership of a small team of controllers on behalf of Head of Business Control.
Proactively identify, assess and support in key business improvement opportunities.
Benchmark, drive change and continue cost efficiency optimization for our aircraft line maintenance. Key player in driving new savings and supporting as well as monitoring initiatives.
Follow up on productivity, aircraft maintenance cost, performance/forecasts and other KPIs and assist in target setting.
Support in negotiations both with suppliers and labor unions to ensure financial quality and efficiency.
Assist in setting a "know your number culture" in the units to ensure a good financial understanding amongst the relevant line managers.
Responsible for the unit's periodic management reporting, budget and forecast processes both for Profit and Loss statements as well as cash flow.
Support with Ad-hoc analysis both for the business units and internally within Business Performance Management (Finance).


Your background & experience
Extensive experience in understanding business control, financial planning and analysis.
A minimum 5 years working experience as business controller with experience of practical leadership and production & personnel intense businesses.
Business controller experience from an operational environment involving complex planning processes and optimization is desired.
A financial mindset and solid general business understanding.
Experience from working as a business partner and driving the financial agenda in management teams.
A strong analytical and challenging mindset and the ability to act upon findings.
Strong communication/presentational skills and ability to get the financial message through.
Possess a strong self-drive, innovative approach and motivation to constantly improve and reach new goals.
Relevant University degree within economy or finance, preferably on Master's level.
Prior experience from auditing firm or management consulting firm meriting.
Data management - MS Excel (incl. VBA desired), PowerBI.
Fluent in English (oral and written) as well as in one Scandinavian language.

Other of Importance
