Body/Exterior CAE Engineer - Concept development
During development of a vehicle, requirements for the complete vehicle can often be broken down to system and component requirements. The car body have many system requirements, such as durability, strength and stiffness. Prerequisites to fulfil these requirements are largely set very early in the design process. Your task will be to develop and optimize the body structure in very early design phases. You will work in a small concept development team, organisationally belonging to CAE department but geographically sitting with colleagues from Body-in-White and Concept integration teams. In the daily work, you will produce 3D lightweight concept CAD data and CAE models that will be used by yourself and others to analyse the concepts. To develop good, solid concepts, a lot of communication with experienced body designers, manufacturing engineers, attribute leaders and other CAE engineers is required. The main tools that are used in the daily work are SFE Concept, CATIA and ANSA.
Responsibilities and tasks
• Develop concept 3D CAD geometry and 3D Finite Element models
• Assemble subsystem FE models
• Set-up and solve mainly stiffness and eigenvalue load cases
• Cooperate with the team members both in home CAE organisation and in concept development team.
• Communicate results and concept design development proposals with attribute, manufacturing and design engineers
• Contribute to develop Body/Exterior CAE-team efficiency
Profile and Background
• M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Civil engineering or Engineering physics with focus on Structural dynamics or Fatigue, or similar
• Experience from similar work tasks within the automotive area
• Experience of SFE Concept is a merit
• Experience of CATIA, ANSA and/or MSC Nastran
• Ability and interest to interact with people outside your own organization
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• Basic knowledge in Swedish
• Knowledge in Chinese (Mandarin) is a merit
• Have an openness and awareness of Asian, European and foreign cultures
