MAX IV is a national large-scale research laboratory providing scientists from Sweden and the rest of the world with instruments for research in areas such as materials science, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Fully developed it will receive more than 2 000 scientists annually. 200 people are currently employed at the MAX IV Laboratory.

We are seeking for a specialist for the preparation of protein samples and eukariotic cell growth as well as for the development for new sample preparations for the use at the MAX IV life science beam lines like BioMAX, MicroMAX, Balder, coSAXS and NanoMAX.

This includes a anticipated collaboration to the beamline experts as well as to the various user comunities.

Tasks

The tasks include:

Start-up operation of the MAX IV biosafety level 1 laboratory:
• Development of an optimal laboratory for carrying out molecular biochemistry and biophysical characterization for protein sample preparation.
• Set up of routines and procedures for a safe working environment.

Continuous development of the Biolab as a multi user facility:
• Biophysical analysis and quality control of protein samples using SDS-PAGE, UV/Vis spectrometry, mass spectrometry, micro-calorimetry, thermofluorimetry, immuno-blotting, enzymatic activity assays, dynamic and static light scattering.
• Protein sample preparation and analysis under anaerobic conditions and within a 4°C lab.
• Protein purification using chromatography techniques.
• Quality control by gel chromatography.
