Research Group
The research group of aging epidemiology is involved in a wide variety of research projects, including molecular and genetic epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, as well as twin and family studies.
The group contains about 18 people - from senior professor to PhD- and master students - with five different PI 's collaborating on many research topics within aging. Research interests are biological aging, frailty, genetics of dementia, polypharmacy in the old and many more. The position as a bioinformatician will be an important cog in the wheel with participation in many ongoing projects.
Your mission
The candidate bioinformatician will work within the research group of aging epidemiology and provide support and analytical expertise in the ongoing projects. Depending on the interest of the person, there will be an opportunity to pursue a number of different research questions in aging using large-scale data such as genotypes, DNA methylation data, sequencing data, biomarkers and national registry data. For more information please contact Sara Hägg, see information below.
This is a one year position with possibility of extension.
Your profile
A PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics or similar. We stress experience of working with large-scale data and training in appropriate methods. Knowledge in statistical software such as R, Stata and SAS is essential. Experience from working in a Unix/Linux cluster environment is preferred.
Strong analytical skills and training in epidemiological methods, omics analyses and biostatistics is a requirement to be a good candidate for the position. Experience in using large-scale data and knowledge in programming is a merit, as these skills are also valuable for the research projects, as is an interest in aging.
