You will be part of an exciting new initiative. ABB and SNC-Lavalin have signed an agreement to form a joint venture (JV) for the execution of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects for electrical substations. By combining ABB's world-leading technology and its market leadership position in power transmission and distribution with SNC-Lavalin's strengths and in delivering infrastructure projects, the joint venture will help meet the evolving need of power grids across the globe for safe, reliable and state-of-the-art electrical substations.

Substations are key elements in power grid infrastructure that facilitate the efficient transmission and distribution of electricity. They control and protect power flows, connect power stations to the grid and link transmission and distribution networks as well as end consumers. ABB is a world leader in air-insulated, gas-insulated and hybrid electrical substations with voltage levels up to 1,200 kV. These substations facilitate the efficient and reliable transmission and distribution of electricity with minimum environmental impact. They serve utility, industry and commercial customers as well as sectors including railways, urban transportation and renewables.

We are looking for a highly motivated Bid & Proposal Manager for EPC High Voltage Substations in the Scandinavian, UK and Iraqi markets. In this position, you are responsible for creating and completing bids, estimations, and quotations based on customer specifications or customer requirements and budgets in order to achieve both market competitiveness and high margin for the Company. You will also be participating in negotiations with the customer. During preparation of the offer, you will lead an interdisciplinary tender team, which will support you during all technical clarifications and commercial negotiations. The job location is Vasteras, Sweden.

Tasks:

• Formulates competitive bids/estimates/quotations, taking into account best available product mix and appropriate technical and commercial considerations for each individual situation. Ensures tenders are well documented in a timely manner and with appropriate level of detail, including full and accurate costs.

• Manages the preparation of all technical (e.g. defining the most suitable technology and product type(s)), financial (e.g. total price sheet, cash flow analysis) and if necessary project management (e.g. quantifies hours of engineering and commissioning) aspects of the bid/estimate/quotation, indicating prices and trading conditions.

• In accordance with bid/estimate/quotation planning, ensures that input for editing activities are provided on time and according to established quality procedures. Manages external services to support bid/estimation preparation such as translations and governmental approvals.

• Collects and archives documentation regarding the offer/order and records assumptions and decisions taken during the development process. Regularly reports the status of the bids/estimates/quotations using defined tools and collects and analyses the reasons for tenders being lost and won.

• Identifies potential risks in the bids, quotations and estimates, and in any related contract agreements across customers/channels. Provides information and/or participates in the Risk Review process in accordance with ABB policy.

• Responsible for collecting and collating all information needed to prepare the proposal, including both technical and cost elements.

• Establishes and maintains effective customer relationships to understand customer needs. Ensures a positive customer experience throughout the sales process. Provides any necessary technical support to Sales Managers during technical meetings with customers.

• Structures the bids/estimates/quotations in order to meet the financing requirements.

• Identifies potential vendors for equipment and materials required in the project and technically evaluates supplier offers to check match with specifications. Collaborates with Supply Chain Management to coordinate requests to subcontractors.

Requirements:

We are looking for you who have the following foundation:

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of experience preparing offers for EPC High Voltage Substations or similar business
• Good knowledge of HV/MV/LV technologies
• Fluent language skills in English and Swedish
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills
• Strong integrity and ethical standards according to ABB values
• Willingness to travel up to 20%.

As Bid & Proposal Manager, you are customer-focused and results oriented. You are a natural leader and ready to motivate your colleagues to produce winning tenders. Since you will be responsible and the focal point for driving and finalizing the tender it is important that you have the capability to handle short timeframes. Strong communication skills and understanding of different cultures are essential for this position.
